HOUSTON, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Westlake Chemical Corporation (NYSE: WLK) today announced the election of four new members to its board of directors. Mr. Robert T. Blakely, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MCI, Inc., Mr. Max L. Lukens, Chief Executive Officer and President of Stewart & Stevenson Services, Inc., and Dr. Gilbert R. Whitaker, Jr., Dean and Professor of Business Economics, Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, Rice University, have joined the board as independent directors. These directors will be members of the company's independent Audit Committee. Ms. Ruth I. Dreessen, Sr. Vice President and CFO of the company, has also been elected to the board as a new director.
On August 11, 2004 the Company completed its initial public offering and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "WLK".
